TFSA Limits for 2022

A new year means new contribution room for your TFSA.  For 2022, Canadians over 18 are eligible to contribute an additional $6,000 in addition to any unused room from previous years.

But if you’ve never made a contribution before or you’re unsure of how much you can contribute, have a look at the chart below to see how much contribution room you will have accrued per year.

You become eligible for a TFSA at age 18 so you can use this chart to see what year you turned 18 and then add up all the years of eligibility.

For example, if you turned 18 in 2021, you would have $12,000 of contribution room available for your TFSA.

If you turned 18 in 2015, you would have $50,500 of contribution room.

Or if you turned 18 in 2009 (or long before that), you would be eligible for the maximum amount of $81,500.

As a reminder, if you ever make a withdrawal from your TFSA, you must wait until at least the next calendar year to recontribute your withdrawal amount.
